Pokemon: Indigo

Sorry for the wait but had to watch this series again since its been almost a long time since I saw the first season. If you are a 90's person, you had to seen this show or at least heard the opening of the song. The show is concentrated on about a boy name Ash who goes on an adventure to be a Pokemon master. Throughout his journey he captures Pokemon and use them to battle other Pokemon trainer.

Pokemon-Pocket Monsters. In other words they are monsters that appear animal-like. However, one can keep it in a ball which can be used to fight or be kept as pets.

Ash Ketchum
The young ten year old boy who dreams to be a Pokemon master. Still a newbie, we see him learning about Pokemon. As his journey continues, he grows to be a good trainer, seeing Pokemon as friends than tools. Because of his relationships that he builds, he has proven that there's more to training a Pokemon than being just strong.

Pikachu
The first Pokemon of Ash, he travels around with him, usually on his shoulder. At the beginning, Pikachu hated Ash, but Ash still wanted to be friends. The two soon became friends and formed a strong relationship. Not only friend, Pikachu seems to be the main leader, taking charge and care of Ash's Pokemon.
Misty
The girl who desires to be the greatest water trainer. At first she travels with Ash due to her bike, but deep inside she just doesn't want to be alone. The youngest sister of the Cerulean gym leader, she has a sort of inferiority complex. Hot temper, she is an experienced trainer that hates to lose. However, she is also kind, especially those who are seen as weak and Pokemon.

Brock
The strong gym leader in Pewter City who specialize in Rock Pokemon. But he has a dream to become the greatest Pokemon breeder. Because of his dream, he decides to go with Ash after their battle. He cares deeply for his Pokemon, and is unwilling to cause great harm to them. Through the show we realize that he can become deeply infatuated with girls, especially those who are pretty.

Team Rocket trio:
A group of bad guys that steal Pokemon from Trainers. Their goal is to get the strongest and rarest Pokemon for...world domination? This group is a 3 person squad. Jesse the bossy and mean female of the group. James the male who seems to be easily pushed around. And a talking Meowth who is cunning and sneaky.

There are a million side characters in the show that do not appear more than once. Only a few characters show multiple of times beside the main characters. But Nurse Joy and Officer Jenny are unique characters that look the same and have the same job. But apparently they have different personalities.

The show plot is pretty flexible, you really do not need to watch any of the episodes in order. You can pretty much understand the plot while skipping around. Though the plot is pretty redundant with a group of evil people trying to steal Pikachu. Also Ash's journey in becoming a Pokemon Champion by collecting Gym Badges. Only thing to look forward to is the battles and new Pokemon the main character encounter.

Animation for the show is really 90s style. The eyes are more long than big, and there is not a lot of promiscuity in the show. Since the characters are young, they have a plain body figure but spiky hair for almost all the characters. Nothing too special with the animation. The background is pretty plain. But it has those background like those school photos to give it a more epic look for the characters.

The opening and closing of show are so iconic, catchy and addicting. The closing is a rap so a bit difficult for younger kids but fun. The Japanese dub songs are not that great. Personally, the English songs are better, easy lyrics and tune. For the music, very game like, has that adventure theme song quality. Since Pokemon is a game at first, the music seems to be highly based that game, particularly Pokemon Red and Blue. Nothing bad but can be childlike for first time watchers.

The English dub and the Japanese dub are very different from each other. Japanese dub is pretty decent, especially with their voice actors. While the English dub is adequate, but the timing with the animation and voice actors is off. Also, Pokemon sounds are just adorable. In the English dub, some Pokemon are from the Japanese dub, like Pikachu, and some are not. Sometimes you will notice the voice actors change in the English dub which can be annoying.
Another difference between the Japanese and English dub is the episodes. Some of the Japanese episodes did not air in American as a result, the storyline might not make sense, like how did Ash get a Tauros.

Manga and anime differences are numerous. Both try to follow the same plot but it feels like a different story having different Pokemon and such. Personally the best manga to read is the Pokemon Adventures where the main character name is Red, instead of Ash. Also, it is more based on the game than the anime series. As a result, the anime is better for showing the underdog story while the manga has a better plot.

This show is just something fun for little kids or a great show to go down memorial lane. The only moral I can think of is that build relationships with your pets. So treat all animal kindly or else you are just evil.

But we all have to agree that this show does tell us that if you go on a journey, the fun way is to go with friends. However, remember to get your parents permission.

Verdict: One of those momentous anime, it is definitely for kids and 90 kids. A nice light watch where there is no major cliffhangers.
