Karneval

This is a new anime, which I find enjoyable compare to the other shows that were appearing. It may not be the best show out there but still a decent watcher. The plot overall is a boy is trying to find his friend and his only clue is a bracelet. But he soon gets tangle up with a government organization-Circus.

Nai
The cute and naive boy who really has no common knowledge of the world. Why? Because he's an animal! Yep, he is a creature called a Niji, that is adorable. He worries about his friends and others, even though he just met them. He also has good hearing which proves to be a valuable asset when traveling. His main concern is to find his friend-Karoku.
Gareki
The tough boy who is pretty hot temper and does not tolerate affections well. With a mysterious past, he was saved by a woman and lived with her until he decided to be on his own. Seems cold but he deeply cares for those who are around him. At first, he may be seen as greedy but during the whole adventure, he just wants a home.
Yogi
The innocent man who wants to keep everything in a pure light. Even though he is a strong fighter for Circus, he acts more like a preschooler. Also he is afraid of a number of things and is weak willed. However, he tries to protect everyone to the best of abilities. However, he has a split personality: gold and silver Yogi.
Tsukumo
The pretty and cute girl who is quiet with few words. Also part of Circus, she tries her best to meet others expectations. A strong girl, she seems to be always serious with her work with little joke and rest. In the end, she is a pretty bland character but has looks and moves. So a boring but useful girl character.

Hirato
The very cool character, who has yet to show an openings or vulnerability. He seems to be cunning and calculative. But he trusts and believes in his comrades. Overall, there is not much on his character expect that he is the best in Circus. He is the leader of Circus' second ship, which has Yogi and Tsukumo.

The character design are beautiful but the characters themselves don't have any real development. It is more fun to watch Nai, Gareki, and Yogi. However, there are other characters that will probably make the plot more interesting if a second season happens.

The story is a more visual compare to other anime, but the plot is a bit dry. There is an organization called Kafka, the main villain. Their crime is illegal genetic experimentation. Interesting but still pretty redundant. The overall story of the show does not keep people interested to watch the next episode. However, the overly cute scenes do make the show decent. The plot seems to connect somehow. Really, this is the kind of show someone watches till their anime is off their hiatus.

The music is decent, again nothing that really pops out. It matches the mood and scenario of the story. Sometimes there is a random music that is not really necessary to the scene. But no overly cheesy or dramatic music. The opening and endings are ok with that anime quality to them. However, not a huge fan of the songs, but the ending is pretty catchy.

Animation is beautiful, everything is bright and well drawn. From the characters, their clothes, and the overall setting, all are vivid and gorgeous to look at. Expect for the genetic mutations that pop in and out of the show. And their eyes are a rainbow of colors, which is different from other animes. Also the technology of the show looks like magic than science.

The voice cast is well done as well. Only problem is that sometimes they are a bit too slow, especially Nai. Maybe to bring out the curtness but it makes him seem dumb. Another issue is Yogi's voice. I am not a huge fan of Yogi's voice actor, for some reason I picture his voice to be more deep and clear. But I soon got over it. I love the voices for the sheep and the rabbit robots. Not only are they adorable, but have their own accent. All in all, well done in voice acting just the timing seems to be a bit off.

The difference between the manga and the anime is not anything huge. There are cute additions in the anime but nothing I remember that was completely different. Again the manga plot develops better as of now. So if the show gets a second season, it will be a whole lot better than this season. Also, the animation is similar, but the colors somehow give life to them.

The show is something some people will watch or not. But overall, it is a boring show but there are few scenes that make it enjoyable. I just find the fact that Nai is an animal more interesting than the Kafka and Circus organization. On the other spectrum, this show is superb in animation and their voice actors. So if you are in the mood for a show like this than watch it, but if not, you will find it completely boring. Warning: there are gay moments, subtle, but present.

This show is more about how we find ourselves to be incompetent by being outside of our comfort zone. Sometimes a single person can take us out from out little pond. So should we go back to our old lives or move forward and change for the better. In the end, there is not progress without change, shown by Gareki.
