Free-First Reaction

I heard about this anime being a series due to being popular on Tumblr. I saw the show and it was different...Most of the time I was trying to find out the reason for their actions. Like why does Rin pull his hat and yet takes it off in the end.



The characters do seem to stand on their own, particularly one who takes his obsession with freestyle swimming too far (Haruka). but there is some obvious thing between Rin and Haruka. Is there some sort of rivalry or love between the two?

The voice actors were good, however, the child actors were a bit...disappointing. Especially the narration in the beginning, kind of...awkward or weird...I am not too sure how to describe it but it gives me the chill.

Overall the animation is pretty good, when they were swimming it was decent. However, when watching the show the movements are a bit too stiff and more of sexy shots. But the characters have a good design to them. Even if there bodies show too much ribs or shark teeth (Rin). The scenario and background are pretty good, the water was made to be realistic.

The opening and ending were decent, not a big fan but it was fun to look at. Especially at the ending, WTFudge, the whole setting is Arabian. At first, it was like Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic. And the awkward dancing...O.o For the general music of the show, it was a step above the songs. Not only it match the scenario but it was nice to listen to.

Overall this show was pretty decent but beware, it might be a bit gay. However, it was a good first episode but for hard core fans, it might be a bit disappointing. Overall, straight males might want to avoid this show or they might be a bit disturbed.
