Gintama

This is one of the few shows where I really burst out laughing, because of the stupidity or the genius of the show. Mostly because of the stupidity. However, it is a good show for a reason. There does not seem to be a solid plot, only the misadventures that happen with the Odd Jobs.

Sakata Gintoki
The dirty main character who usually picks his nose and other disgusting habits. He is always in need of money but spend his time doing what he enjoys, manga and sweets. However, whenever he is needed he always comes through, being a top notch samurai. Even though he was a "criminal", he tries to live a normal life different from his other companions.

Shimura Shinpachi
The glasses character who is the consciousness of the group and mostly the logical one. He is made fun of because of his lack of presence, but he can also be bossy and crazy. He is really a mother of the group, always cooking and cleaning. But he comes through when things get tough, and shows that he can be a man in front of obstacles.

Kagura
The mega strong little girl who is actually an alien, even though she looks human. She seems like a selfish girl but in the end she cares for those around her. She tries to not resort to being a blood thirsty animal, like her family. Lately, she has been picking dirty habits from Gintoki such as pricking her noise and such.

Sadaharu
One of the mascot of the show, he is a big dog that bites people frequently. Not only is he huge, its bathroom breaks are big as well. At first, he was abandoned and was left to the Odd Jobs. Gintoki was about to leave him but Kagura eventually was able to keep him. It is reveal he was given up due to the Amanto(aliens) invasion.

These are the main characters of the show, which the show revolves around. But there are a ton of characters that do pop out throughout the show. There are soooo many characters with a diverse personality that many people will love. Really the only "cool" characters are some bad guys, because all the characters eventually become goofy.

The interesting aspect of this show is the whole idea and setting. Unlike other anime, Gintama does not have a clear plot and the setting. It is a mix of modern and ancient: modern technology but ancient hierarchy/status. What shows combines both of these aspects? So in all this show is about Amantos' take over Earth and follows adventures of a ex-samurai.

The music for the show is decent, I have to say the openings and endings are great. I believe the best song I heard from Gintama is Some Like It Hot by Spyair. The soundtrack for the show is decent, though it seems more comedic than other show. It does try to match the music to the scene, but not as memorable compare to the openings and endings.

The animation for the show is not that great compare to the other shows out there. But it is an improvement from the manga. Also the action scenes may be a bit slow but still decent. Another things I like is that the animation is it shows the UGLY. When you see the scene where the characters is still pretty when sweating, there is NONE of that in Gintama. The result, Gintama is a decent animation that is more about the jokes than action.

When comparing the show with the manga, there is not a big difference. The show adds scenes that are not illustrated and fillers, or changes the sequences. But in all, the show does follow close to the manga. Even the fillers are decent, if not, you will mostly likely get a good laugh.

The voice actors are pretty decent, just like any other Japanese anime, the voice actors are great. I see no real flaw in the voice actors, a good collection of professional voice actors. Also it is not over the top, however, it is a pretty loud cast.

This show is really different, has good titles like a quote that you post on facebook. Also the show is filled with DIRTY jokes and parodies. Really the jokes can be disgusting that some scenes have to be censored. Also the parodies are hilarious, ranging from anime to tv series to etc.

So this is a great show for an older audience, cause younger kids will probably be clueless or scarred. So if you are looking for a show that does not try to be perfect, try  this show. If not watch it just for laughs, you will not regret it. Also, you do not have to watch this show in order, so if you want you can skip around.

Even though the show does quite a few jokes, it does have a number of morals that are abundant. But really, in the end, we can never avoid people. We may try to get away from our friends and family, but we meet new ones in the end. So don't be a loner and try to enjoy the people around you, no matter how annoying they can be.
