Psycho-Pass

Psycho Pass is not really a kids anime if I were to put a rating...18+...maybe that was the extreme but there is quite a lot of blood, lesbians, and dark concept. The plot is about a world being ruled by the Sibyl System. The System created "Psycho-Pass" which takes personality and mind to decide the most happiness for a person. In a way, it controls a person life by making the decisions for them. To make sure the Sibyl System operates perfectly there are Inspectors and Enforcers who manage the public. In other words, police.

There are a variety of people but only a few really dominate the show. But the characters look familiar, they seem like...OMG its Katekyo Hitman Reborn. Don't worry, it's just the author who did the character design.

Shinya Kogami
Every time I look at him I think of Hibari Kyoya. However, he is a person set on revenge for his fallen comrade. He has a cool demeanor, sharp mind, and brutal moves, he is by far the strongest of the group. However, his main concern is to solve the case and Makishima. So revenge bound, it becomes his downfall.

Akane Tsunemori
She is the female of the show who becomes a Inspector. Pretty much the newbie with high promise. We get to see her struggle to understand what her job is and still be who she is at the same time. She is calm and positive person who accepts her fate. In the end, she turns out to become a capable Inspector.

Nobuchika Ginoza
The Inspector who teaches Akane the ropes. But when you see how the story progresses, he starts to get a bit whiny and protective. Which is explained through his past. Difficult and close minded, he tries to get his life under control. However, he soon realizes that he can not control his life the way he wants.

Masaoka Tomomi
The old geezer of the group, like a grandpa who is close to retirement. He seems to be the most calm and knowledgeable of the group. Because of his personality, he mediates between Akane and Ginoza when their ideas clash. As well as informing Akane of how the Bureau works. However, he is the kind of person who goes with his guts.

Shuusei Kagari
The young and experience Enforcer, he is full of jokes which gives the show a bit of humor. However, his past is not so great, in fact he has become a latent criminal at the age of 5. What a depressing childhood. It really seems he resent the Sibyl System (don't blame him) but just live his life his way, no matter the circumstances.

Kunizuka Yayoi
She is the quiet Enforcer and has a relationship with Shion. She is serious about her work and shows little emotion. Not much is known about her except that she was a musician before her "Psycho-Pass" became that of a latent criminal. With really no other choice, she becomes an Enforcer to at least enjoy the life to some extent.

Shion Karanomori
The intelligent and seductive analyst of the Bureau, she is rarely seen anywhere expect her little office room. Sometimes joke around with everyone but overall does her job well and provides support for the team. Not much is known about her except for her relationship with Yayoi during the beginning and end of the series.

Shogo Makishima
The main villain of the show who kills Kogami's comrade. He would be the twisted genius, sadist, and cruel character stereotype. Always quoting from books, he also has the moves to be an equal with Kogami. That was sure surprising. In a way, his thinking is the opposite of the public view: killing is not wrong but normal.

Alright, I finish the series and in the end I was just in awe. Not because it was awesome but how the plot unfolded. It was just too gruesome for me but it had so many messages. Maybe its because I took Psychology classes but it was so interesting.
1.) Again revenge does cause downfall to your life. In everything, revenge only leads to ruin. So if you are thinking of getting revenge, expect to be drag down as well.
2.) What is happiness? Is it freedom? Is it having a satisfying life? This is the main concept of Psycho-Pass, how to obtain happiness. Is it better to make choices or have an easier life?
3.) Stereotypes. Can be good or bad but it does influence us. From the way we grow or fall to despair.
These topics are seen in the show, but there are so much than this. Really, this is a good anime for psychological fans.
Personally, I have no problem with the voice actors. They do match the characters well, it's just almost perfect. If I had a flaw is that they tone done the voice of pain. You would think that when your arm exploded you would be in agonizing pain. Unless, that generation of people have a high tolerance to pain. But still, a moan would suffice.

The music was not really memorable, if I had to say to was more background music that fit the story. The music on their own don't pop out but its not the same for opening and endings. For the opening and ending, they did a good job. It was the kind of music that is fast pass and seems chaotic similar to the way the plot is developing. It really does fit the story plot.

Animation of the show is decent. It is amazing how they made the future world, making clothes come out of thin air and food prepared in the microwave. I wish I could have those. Also they make the characters more proportional compare to other anime. So no impossible breasts or overly huge eyes. However, I have a problem with the characters that go crazy. It just looks over exaggerated as well as being just creepy on a whole new level. One minute they are normal and next there is a closeup of their eyes twitching and such.

The manga, which I have not finished the series, seems to be close to the anime. All I could find was the 1st chapter. But watching the series gives a more different feeling, especially since those dark alleyway scene. Also the animation just gives more impact and epic-ness to the show especially with their guns called the Dominator (how original).

This show is acceptable, a good show for those interested in psychological anime. I would not recommend it for people below high school. If you are, just be prepare for some really twisted things. However, it does shed a light on our possible future. In a way, it reminds me of Death Note but not so chess/manipulative like.

If you imagine the future, this show could be possible. I remember a professor told me that instead of taking SAT we would measure your brain and see if you can go to college or not. Think, it would just be a simple scan instead of a test that measure IQ. How freaky is that? Everything would depend on our mind and beauty, rank, etc would mean nothing. So we can't work hard, instead it would be our innate ability, in a way, no second chances. The I more I think about it the more we have become deafen by society.
