Katekyo Hitman Reborn-Home Tutor Reborn

Katekyo Hitman Reborn is one of those coming to young teen anime. It is not really for mature audience but it is a show where you can just watch without too much brain work.
The story consist of a young boy who meets his new home tutor, Reborn. His tutor is actually training him to be the next boss for the Vongola, a mafia family. He rejects, but is soon brought in to the mafia world whether he wants to or not.

One thing that I enjoy about the show is that that characters are so peculiar and different from the norm. The character design are more cute, but appealing to the eye. Also do not be deceive by their grade in the show. They are technically in their last year of middle school to freshmen high school (13-15 years old), so not that young. Japanese school system, so much fun. Let's list the characters.

'Tsuna' Sawada
Pretty much a Big Loser in the beginning of the series. There is nothing that he can do right expect get last place. He is a big softies and cares for other welfare. So he is a pacifist, not really for violence unless he has to. Don't worry, he may be lame when you start the series but he develops to be 100 times better by the end of the series. So don't let his looks deceive you just yet.

Hayato Gokudera
He is really the bad boy gone good. Like a dog for Tsuna, claiming to be his right hand man, it can sometimes be annoying. He is hot temper, impatient, and sees everyone as inferior except for Tsuna. However, he is a character that grows with the plot. With a difficult past, he comes to understand what it truly means to be part of the mafia.

Takeshi Yamamoto
If he were a girl, he be the annoying one that doesn't know what's going on but is always happy. Similar to....but as a guy, he turned out to be a good character. But a killer when serious. How split personality is that. But as the plot progresses, he place his priority on his friends and realizes that not everything is a game.

Ryohei Sasagawa
He is really a character that gets little screen time but hard to overlook. A hot blooded boxer who is pretty much living every day to train. I have to say, most of the time is he clueless but displays good big brother qualities especially with his sister Kyoko. Though he acts immature he will act as the older brother when needed.

Kyoya Hibari
The all out bad/quiet/aloof kid at school who never socializes with anyone but fights like a beast. Really he can run the underworld organization with just himself. However, you see him slowly associate with the mafia. He probably has the least character development compare to the others but a favorite in the show.

Mukuro Rokudo
The confusing character-mix between good and evil. He helps the group but has a goal that is pure evil. However, he has the most depressing childhood out of the seven. So he turns out to be a controlling person with little empathy for everyone else. Not surprisingly he has a special ability with his eyes. (Naruto, Code Geass, Yu-Gi-Oh, Black Butler, D-Grayman, Fairy Tail, etc).

Lambo
The most annoying kid, sometimes I just want to hit him just because he is oepgoriGHW. He really is a big cry baby but he does have his attractive points. He is able to be replace by his future self so there will be times we get a break from the annoying kid. (If you don't get it, watch the anime). However, he does not leave the battlefield and will supply support when needed.

The beginning of the series was a real letdown, I heard so many good things about the show and manga. But do not fret for around episode 30, it improves drastically. The characters are more enjoyable and the plot is actually interesting. But do not take my word for that. One things that you should be wary of is the fillers. Sometimes there are pointless until...you get to the future arc. Overall, this stories requires you to go through the series since old characters keep popping in and out. So watch the series straight in the beginning since the characters are introduced and to get a better understanding of what is happening.

This show is also not part of the norm, with its concept and development. They try to incorporate Italian words throughout the series instead of ENGLISH. Finally, no more of those badly pronounced English words, instead it is being done in Italian. Also they make the world balance on some peculiar things such as rings and babies. So this must mean a female wrote this manga. Another thing is not everyone wins, I believe all the characters at least lose once. However, they get back up and their lose actually helps them future down the road. Even in big battles, where everyone comes together and join forces, lost at least one of those.

The music for the show is great, sometimes a bit too goofy and other times it can really hit the spot of a climatic moment. Personally their openings and endings are not that great but do fit as a anime song. Also they are big spoilers in my opinion, so if you hate spoilers, I would suggest to skip them. Also there are special at the very end on the ending song once you reach the future arc. So don't miss out on Haru Haru Dangerous Interview and Tsuna the Monster Tamer. Or you can go on Youtube and watch them.

Unfortunately the anime does not have a English dub, so it may be a blessing that they did not mess anything up. Really, it seems to be difficult or impossible to turn this to a English dub. There are a lot of Japanese jokes and terms that would make the story awkward if translated.

Animation is not that great at the beginning. However it slowly gets better and better. Sometimes the scene where their attacks explode gets dim for me...unless that is just my computer. However it is easier to see the fight scenes compare to the manga. I personally like looking at the anime more than the manga. For some reason when I look at the manga, I feel like everyone is half asleep or too serious.  Be aware of big eyes, many characters have the big and round eyes.

The anime and manga are pretty close but some characters were not added, which didn't make much difference. Also the anime ended too soon, there are actually around two new arcs in the manga. I would read the manga in this case, they add more characters and the Arcobaleno curse comes to a conclusion. Yes, the manga ended and everything is cleared up. However, the way they ended the story was be a bit rushed for me.

Even though the anime and manga are finished, this is such an interesting show that I can keep watching. The characters and animation are developed throughout the show, the plot gets interesting, and the music just fits well with the situation. This is one of the few shows where I enjoy the fillers then get annoyed with the stereotypical plot...mmnarutommm. So watch this show, the plot does sound s bit weird but there is really no heavy violence or gore.

I overall love this series, though the older I get the more annoyed I get with the characters. But it shows that you need to protect your friends cause they are the most important people you meet. I mean the friends that help you when you were down on your feet. Not just keep in touch with your friends on Facebook. Cause without them you would be living for nothing. I notice that school would have been such a miserable time for me if not for the friends I made. Also, be open minded, especially with people you meet. You never know who will be your friend or lover, so explore instead of your cliche.
